Amazing Wallpapers - Floating Lantern Festival, Honolulu, Hawaii
Bucket list item! That's straight out water pollution. I was gonna type the same thing til I seen you said it.  Beautiful for sure. But I bet lots of them end up in the bottom of the ocean. I doubt that boat collects every single of them. It is not pollution, as "ALL" the Floating Lantern are picked up after they reach the end and reused the next year. FYI, there is a temporary barrier set up to collect all lanterns and they are all removed from the water. There is no pollution, it is a controlled event attended by nearly 40,000 people along with a televised ceremony and entertainment. Even if not collected aren't they wood and paper? Really at this point, the silver pipline and fracking does not come to mind. The negative people will always exist. It is always best to ignore them and get on with the enjoyable things in life. Some people can never be happy, they just want to be negative. That is what makes them happy. lol..."water pollution". what an idiot. educate yourself before you start screaming epitaphs. they are made of wood & rice paper & they are collected. Hawaii is one of the most environmentally conscious states out there. The lanterns are collected by a boat out in the ocean. Each lantern is purchased and represents a loved one who has passed away. they have this lantern festival every Memorial Day at Ala Moana Beach Park. You can release a lantern as a memorial for your loved ones who have passed.
Beautiful celebration that is held annually on Memorial Day along Magic Island / Ala Moana Beach. They do gather them after the event and not a single lamp is left on the water.
